Description

Sítio Sertãozinho is located in the city of Cristina, MG, in the Serra da Mantiqueira mountain range. In addition to growing coffee, the farm also raises livestock. The farm measures 80 hectares, of which 20 are reserved for coffee growing. In the mid 60s, the property was acquired by Benedito Ribeiro, father of the current owner’s late husband, and coffee production began. At that time, the farm had clay patios, which were common in the past. It was thus that the taste and admiration for coffee, that was on all Brazilians’ tables every day, grew. Over the years, the couple decided to acquire the lands and became the second generation of the Ribeiro family to run the property.

There has recently been an improvement in production management, seeking resources necessary for the family to produce high-quality coffees. Marilda is the only woman involved in the activities and processes on the farm, but she dedicates herself completely for the family to harvest great coffees.

For 60 years Sítio Sertãozinho has been evolving and perfecting techniques of managing its coffees. The owner’s experience aligned with new technologies enables the high quality of coffee that is suppliedto consumers.

The coffee processing system uses the natural method, in which after picking the coffee is spread on a concrete patio to dry over a period of 15-20 days, until reaching the ideal humidity. Upon reaching this humidity, the coffee is taken to the machinery where it is processed.

Concern for quality begins with the process of soil correction, called liming, a necessary fertilization, as well as spraying, ripening, harvesting and drying.
