The farm is run by Luiz Paulo, part of the fourth generation in a coffee-producing family. Luiz graduated in business administration and started his career in banking. After working for several years in the banking sector, he decided to return to Carmo de Minas to work with his family producing coffee. Returning to Minas Gerais and together with his cousin Jacques Pereira Carneiro, Luiz perceived that promotion and commercialization of specialty coffees could the region’s entire coffee value chain.
Through much effort and hard work, they (Jacques and Luiz Paulo) were able to make the Mantiqueira de Minas region known and recognized internationally for the quality of the coffee produced.
Following the passing of Luiz’s grandfather, the family decided to give him a piece of land that produced coffees in recognition of his career path. Luiz named it Sítio Senhor Niquinho, as his grandfather was known.
Located in an area with an elevation of around 1100 meters, with average annual rainfall of 1250 to 1400 mm, Sítio Sr. Niquinho has native forests, riparian forests and springs, all of them preserved.
The coffees grown on the farm are processed at Fazenda Irmãs Pereira, which also belongs to Luiz Paulo’s family, due to the proximity of the farms and its large processing capacity.
The farm relies on women who actively participate in activities, such as drying of the coffees.
This coffee underwent a 48-hour fermentation process as whole coffee cherries in a tank. Then it was pulped and spread on the patio to dry as pulped natural.
All processes and steps taken from harvest to processing are done with the maximum of attention and care in order to obtain more quality in the coffees.
