Ato Bekele Ado Tero is 93 years old, the oldest participant in this year’s COE. He started coffee farming as a young man in Gedeo zone, Gedeb woreda, Worka Cherdesa kebele, SNNPR. He produces 8,000 kilograms of coffee Kurum variety each year on his 3.31 hectares of land, which he sells to local traders and exporters.

Bekele’s coffee ranked 17th with 87.86 points. “I am so happy and encouraged,” he says, “my coffee will be recognized internationally, and I am hopeful that I will get a good price through the auction, which will help me to do more,” he said.
