Description

The farm is located in the small village Morales, municipality of Mataquescuintla, department of Jalapa. Located in the west length: 90° 12’ 30”, north latitude 14° 33’ 41.4”.

Climate and Altitude:

The farm has an altitude from 1,500 to 2,000 mts above the sea level with coffee crops and a maximum altitude of 2, 650mts over the sea level. With cold template weather, and temperatures from 7C to 25C. And an average of annual pluvial precipitation from 1,100 to 1,700 mm.

SIZE OF THE FARM:

The farm has 50 hectares with coffee, 98.0 hectares of pasture and forest conservation, almost all the forest is a natural forest of pine, cypress, Encino, pinabete, oak, zope, guachipilin, etc.

HARVESTING TIME:

The production of coffee begins in January and ends in April, getting 4 months of production.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

Nursery: Rio Dorado farm has its own nursery, with the purpose of having high quality control of the plant that is going to be used for the sowing of new areas and for the re sowing of the old cropping areas. Its own nursery helps with good agricultural practices such as; manual management of molasses and the use of preventing phytosanitary products allowed by the agricultural authorities of the country.

Rio Dorado farm works with many varieties giving priority to the ones that are better adapted to the climate conditions of the region, the varieties that the farm has are Pacamara, Pache and Bourbón

HARVEST:

The harvest is one of the most important steps in the coffee production. In Rio Dorado Farm, we do not eliminate the native trees, the plantations are cropped under them and the same ones are used as permanent shadow.
