The El Naranjal farm, which owes its name to the abundance of orange trees, is owned by Don Demetrio Ronquillo who has considered it "a small generous paradise" since, in addition to coffee, it maintains fruit trees such as mandarin, avocado, zapote , banana and lemon which are intended for family consumption.
Don Demetrio produces and processes the coffee from his farm with the participation of his sons Fernando and Miguel, who encourage him to innovate his production system to improve productivity, but above all to achieve the quality of specialty coffees. Without rushing, Don Demetrio has made the necessary changes to be able to compete in the best quality contests: strict selection of ripe fruits, fermentation control, fertilization based on soil analysis, good rust control, tissue management and use of microorganisms to regenerate the soil, are some of the good practices that have translated into good results since 2022. The farm mainly maintains the Mexican Garnica variety, as well as Typica and Marseillaise.
Don Demetrio simply lives up to the meaning of his name "the one who loves the land" for 5 years he abandoned his job as a merchant to return to his origin, a job that he began at the age of 15 and that was the livelihood of his family for a long time and now he returns to enjoy.
"I consider that being a coffee producer is a source of pride, I encourage the new generations to make an effort to create their own employment, it is better to take advantage of the land and not exploit man. Likewise, I like to share my experiences to motivate people to cultivate the land, strengthening the family unit and avoiding migration."
