Description

The initial livelihood activity introduced on "Doi Tung" alongside forest restoration efforts was the cultivation of cash crops. The Doi Tung Development Project empowered local villagers by granting them the right to own and manage coffee trees. Those who demonstrated commitment to proper care and produced high-quality coffee were rewarded with greater returns. This sense of ownership encouraged villagers to fully invest their efforts, leading many to eventually establish their own coffee businesses.

In addition macadamia nuts have become another valuable cash crop. Known for their high market value, macadamias can be processed into a range of products and generate significant income. With proper care, these trees have a long lifespan and become enduring parts of family life—often growing alongside the children of the household. The development and cultivation of improved or climate-resilient varieties support the community in adapting sustainably to the challenges of climate change.
