The six hectares of coffee cultivation at CASA BRÁS are embraced and blessed by the magnificent terroir of the Serra da Canastra.

Located in the Midwest of Minas Gerais, the Canastra region offers ideal conditions for coffee growing — excellent altitude, climate, soil, and, above all, its people.

In addition to being world-renowned for the quality of its Canastra Cheese, the region also stands out for the excellence of its coffee beans.

More than just high-quality production, the Serra da Canastra preserves a tradition of family farming and tells the stories of producers who truly deserve recognition — such as Pedro Brás (35).

A third-generation coffee grower, Pedro cultivates not only coffee, but also his dreams.

His passion for the world of coffee is an inheritance from those who were literally born among coffee trees, with a love for the land and for Canastra running deep in their roots. Pedro combined the knowledge passed down through his family with the experience he gained around the world — and his fascination for innovation — to refine and elevate the coffee culture of the region.

Obsessed with post-harvest processes, Pedro is the kind of producer who doesn’t think twice about getting out of bed in the middle of a full-moon night during harvest season to follow the picking up close.

By the wood-fired stoves of farming families, he built bonds of trust and began a beautiful project. Life changed for many people there — and so did the flavor in the cup.

These specialty, high-altitude coffees — planted and harvested like small treasures — quickly found their way into sought-after bags, produced in limited quantities and highly coveted. The more special the beans, the more distinctive the circles where they began to be appreciated.

Today, alongside his family, Pedro manages 134 hectares of highly productive and, above all, high-quality coffee farms in the Serra da Canastra, across the municipalities of Piumhi and Vargem Bonita.

They cultivate 16 hectares at CASA BRÁS, Fazenda Baixadão, and Sítio São Pedro, featuring raised drying beds and varieties such as Catuaí Amarelo, Catuaí Vermelho, Laurina, Geisha, Pacamara, and SL28.

At Fazenda Campo Alegre, 120 hectares are dedicated to coffee, equipped with patios, dryers, and full processing infrastructure, where varieties like Rubi, Catuaí, and Mundo Novo are cultivated.

These properties are regional references, known for their sound agricultural practices, careful and respectful environmental management, and innovative post-harvest techniques.
