We assign this name of the mists because in this place you can appreciate or observe many mists mostly in the mornings and afternoons, this scenario is caused because the coffee plantations are surrounded by mountains. finca las neblinas, is located in the high mountains of the community buena vista del peñonjalapa.
Here in this coffee farm we enjoy a special microclimate for the production of specialty coffee, the climate is very pleasant, we favor the location of the farm which is at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level, with average temperatures of 20 degrees centigrade, we have the privilege of having abundant water within our farm which favors to produce high quality coffee.

We bought this farm 13 years ago in which we work with our family and a team of special collaborators to guarantee the work to produce high quality coffee.
Each year we make a work plan to be executed in the farm with the objective of producing coffee of excellent quality for the most demanding tastes of the world market, in this work plan includes weed control, balanced nutritional fertilization, tissue management, shade arrangement, pest and disease control, soil conservation work among other tasks. In our farm we apply work technologies with the motto “a greener and more sustainable planet” in all the activities that are developed to produce this coffee, this includes the application of low inputs and environmentally friendly products.
In Finca Las Neblinas environmental protection is taken very much into account, standing out for its good agricultural practices and sustainable management in the production of specialty coffee. In this region in the northern zone of Nicaragua, specifically in this farm the coffee harvest begins in December and ends in April.
To produce specialty coffees in this farm a set of activities are needed that must be executed perfectly to obtain good results and to be eligible for the cup of excellence.
In the first place we have an optimal privileged location to produce specialty coffee, secondly we choose to produce quality coffee in cup by selecting the best varieties to plant according to the altitude and microclimate we have, thirdly to execute an investment plan that guarantees efficient results throughout the process, here we are talking about the entire management of coffee growing, Fourth to train the personnel and all the collaborators of the farm so that they carry out the best possible work, as in all the processes of coffee growing, the collaborators are trained to harvest only the ripe cherry coffee avoiding harvesting unripe beans.
After the daily collection of the ripe cherry coffee, the coffee is floated in water tanks with the objective of separating the empty or less dense grains and impurities, then after floating the coffee is manually picked and the imperfect grains are removed so that the coffee is perfect and then it is transferred to the dry coffee mill, this coffee is transported in plastic crates to optimize the conditions when it is manipulated.
Then it is transferred to the dry mill about 80 kilometers away to the city of Ocotal, departmental head of Nueva Segovia, where the qualified personnel of the dry mill waits to receive the coffee, then here begins the drying process in high African beds, here the coffee remains in the care of the mill personnel who are constantly stirring the coffee to achieve a uniform drying, This drying process is very costly, but it works very well for this type of specialty coffee. The slow drying process in beds is with the objective that the coffee is conserved in better conditions for the longest time possible in warehouses available for the clients, that is to say, the slow drying process allows for greater longevity, the longer the quality of the coffee is conserved.
Our family and our team of collaborators are committed to improve in all the processes that are developed in our farm to provide better quality coffee to our customers and the final consumer, this cup of excellence award encourages us to continue joining efforts to continue planting special varieties of coffee, improve the quality and quantity of coffee, Our humble family and collaborators are taking great steps to improve the quality of coffee in our country of Nicaragua. In a very special way we thank God and all those involved in improving our coffee growing, especially the buyer of this micro lot of cup of excellence 2025.
