6 - Los Granadillos - Nicaragua 2025

Hello, I am Francisco Ponce Duarte, 74 years old, originally from the city of Ocotal Nueva Segovia and I will tell you a little about how I managed through effort and sacrifice to this day to have my own coffee farm.

Together with my wife Doña Isidra Pineda at the time of creating a family we had to find a way to support them economically at the beginning the reality hit me I had no experience nor money there were days when I doubted my dream especially when I did not have the necessary economic resources I decided that I had to educate myself I spent hours researching about the cultivation of coffee I learned about the importance of soil and climate after saving and planning finally in 1988 I bought my first farm of 3 blocks.

The first time I harvested my coffee beans was indescribable, each bean represented hours of work, effort and dedication, I realized that I had turned a dream into reality. My coffee farm has not only given me high quality beans but also a community of people passionate about coffee, today I have 32 blocks that are cultivated and thanks to God I can be proud to know that my harvest was one of the chosen ones among many like a good coffee, I want to tell you that it was not easy, I knew nothing about growing coffee, I broke down emotionally, I made mistakes like any person, I lost plants and there were weeks in which I doubted myself but I learned and observed the land and I realized that with effort and dedication we can achieve what we propose but when we have as an impulse to give a livelihood to our family that is why in some pictures I show you about my beginnings next to my family and that until today has been my income to meet the economic needs that arise.

I have learned that dreams can come true with perseverance and passion, now my goal is to share this experience and empower others to follow their own dreams.
