Description
Parcela El Pino is a productive unit that is managed by Mr. Edilberto Bermeo and family where on this occasion they have prepared a batch of parchment coffee for this competition, said productive unit has an area of 1.00 hectares of coffee of the geisha variety with 4.5 years with an organic production system based on inputs of decomposed pulp and external island guano and potassium sulfate of organic origin, phosphate rock and micro elements of a product certified as an organic product. This fertilization is carried out 3 times a year, it also has the cedar plot that has the bourbon, icatu and caturra varieties. With an approximate harvest of 25.00 qq/ha management of a production system under shade with species such as guaba and some forests such as pine, laurel and eucalyptus in the surrounding area, weeding work is carried out manually and with the help of a machete and shovel.
This plot was installed at the end of 2018 under a system of contour curves. In 2020 it began to produce its first beans, and in 2021 it was its first year where it had a production of 10 quintals of parchment coffee of the geisha variety. which reached scores of 88 to 90 points in the cup, competing in the cup of excellence, reaching the top 30 places in the contest. For this year, 2023, the production volume has increased, so to date we already have harvesting 25 quintals waiting until the end of the year to harvest 5 more quintals, I must also specify that the harvest begins in the month of March with the first grains and ends in the month of November.
