Description
Ma Family Coffee Farm is a coffee farm in Moo Ban Pangkhon, Amphoe Muang, Chiang Rai province.
It is a small village with 100 percent of the household involved in coffee cultivation as their main income. Our community is situated in a national park amidst the forest and watershed.
Ma Family Coffee Farm cultivates Arabica coffee, most of them are Catimor with no crossbreeding. Waew and Ken keep it as is from our parents’ generation who have been cultivating coffee for 36 years.
Both of us started the coffee processing not long ago and we are entering the fifth year now. Waew sees that coffee is the only thing we have. Therefore, it is worth opening our minds to it and to learn more about it even though we may not have the best species.
Our farm sits 1,270 meters above sea level with lower temperatures which help slowing maturation of the coffee cherry unlike other destinations. Our harvesting time is between the end of December and the beginning of April. Last year, we won the 5th and 15th places in the competition. Special thanks to the organizer who gives farmers an opportunity and inspiration to keep developing our produce.
