My name is Ade Saedin, a 46 years old Coffee farmer. My journey to become a Coffee Farmer began from how difficult it is by the time to search for a decent job, while my family was getting bigger and their basic needs were steadily increasing. I was confused and searched on and on until one day in 2012 I was introduced to a farmer who invited me to farm coffee. At the time I had never even seen what Coffee leaf looked like, but somehow I was interested and decided to become a coffee farmer. Finally with all the capital I had at the time I opened a coffee farm at Dano which is situated in Manglayang Mountain Valley, Bandung, West Java.
In the early years as my knowledge was limited, I sought guidance and teachings from my successful senior at Pangalengan, West Java Coffee Plantation by directly working at his place. With diligence and enthusiasm I finally earned his trust and thus gained knowledge about various techniques on coffee handling until I felt it’s enough for me to finally work on my own coffee farm.
We as Coffee farmers really encourage competitions like Cup of Excellence in Indonesia like we are having now with hope that our coffee can be known and proven to be a potential high quality coffee and earn a suitable price for it.
