Alemayehu, a 42-year-old father of six, is a coffee farmer from Gersea Kebele, Yirgachefe Woreda, Gedeo Zone in the SNNP region. He grows 74110 coffee varieties processed into Natural on 2.78 Ha of land in the popular coffee-growing area of Yirgachefe. Alemayehu grew up working on a coffee farm alongside his father. It's his first time participating in COE following the capacity-building training he received from the woreda agricultural office on modern coffee farming methods, which qualified him to enter the competition. He entered a dry natural processed coffee in the competition, and is now excited to make it to the top 40.  “I am happy, and I think this is a huge success for all the coffee farmers in my woreda,” he said.
