Description
Miguel Moreno entered the coffee industry in 1990 and shifted towards specialty coffee in the early 2000s to meet the demands of an international buyer from Spain. His coffee gained recognition when it secured second place at an international event in France in 2005, inspiring Miguel to pursue participation in competitions like the Cup of Excellence (COE).
Miguel's participation in the Cup of Excellence (COE) has become a significant aspect of his legacy, despite a hiatus from 2014 until this year. His decision to temporarily step away from such competitions was motivated by the recognition that, despite his farm, "El Filo," winning awards, it struggled to maintain its competitive edge against the rising standards of COE since 2015.To address this, Miguel established an experimental farm called "Buena Vista," which produced its first batch of Geisha coffee this year. Alongside his son, Nahun, who serves as the chief of quality at Buena Vista, Miguel enjoys experimenting with coffee processing techniques and ensuring the well-being of their coffee trees t. Additionally, both farms adhere to recommendations for nutrition and organic pest control.
The name "Buena Vista" derives from the stunning view it offers, encompassing Yojoa Lake and the surrounding forested mountains. This scenic beauty makes Buena Vista farm truly live up to its name, providing a picturesque and serene setting for coffee cultivation.
