Description
#2 — El Entronque
Luis Felipe Monge Gamboa | Mill: La Lía Tarrazú M&U S.A.
Finca El Entronque is located in the high mountains of San Francisco de León Cortés at 1,965 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Los Santos region. The coffee grows under shade in fertile, well-maintained soils, managed with environmentally responsible practices. After years of testing different varieties to find the best fit for this specific terroir, the Monge family settled on Geisha — a choice that has now proven itself on the world stage.
The processing beneficio carries the name La Lía, given in honor of the family's mother, Ana Lía — a tribute that encapsulates the values she passed on: discipline, effort, and giving the best of oneself every day. This year marks the first time the farm produced enough volume to qualify for Cup of Excellence, making the second-place finish in the Experimental category all the more meaningful. For the Monge family, this is not just a competitive result — it is an honor to represent Costa Rica and its coffee at the highest level.
