Description
#4 — FCJ Volcán Azul
Alejo Castro Kahle | Mill: FCJ Volcán Azul S.A.
The story of FCJ Volcán Azul spans more than a century and two families. In the 19th century, Alejo C. Jiménez in Costa Rica and Wilhelm Kahle in southern Mexico independently pursued the same dream: to produce exceptional coffee for the most demanding markets in the world. Today, their fourth and fifth generation descendants continue that pursuit on the slopes of the Poás Volcano, where highly fertile volcanic soils above 1,400 meters above sea level provide the foundation for some of Costa Rica's most distinguished lots.
Beyond quality, the family's commitment to environmental stewardship has become a defining pillar of the project. The acquisition and active protection of native rainforest — not as a marketing gesture, but as a conscious contribution to biodiversity and climate mitigation — reflects values that have been built into the operation for generations. FCJ Volcán Azul is a project where legacy, innovation, and responsibility are inseparable.
