Description
In the cool, wooded mountains of Dipilto in Nueva Segovia, where the mist embraces the coffee plantations and the altitude between 1,300 and 1,600 masl creates unique conditions, Finca El Poste was born. My name is Guillermo Montenegro Ayestas; my story began alongside my family, who have dedicated their lives to coffee, and from a very young age, I learned that every bean represents effort, passion, tradition, and love for the land. The farm's name arose after Hurricane Mitch, inspired by the strength of a post (el poste) that stands firm despite the storms—just like us.
We acquired this property in 1985, and since then, we have worked with sacrifice and passion to build a truly specialty coffee, never stopping to believe in the quality of our product. Today, we cultivate renowned varieties such as Red Catuai, Yellow Catuai, Pacamara, and Maragogype, taking care of every stage of the process: we harvest only fully ripe cherries, perform controlled fermentations, and use clean water during the washing process to guarantee a clean, elegant, and distinctive cup. When someone buys my coffee, they are not just purchasing a product, but the result of years of dedication alongside my family, experience, and respect for quality.
Participating in the "Cup of Excellence" has been a huge motivation because I know that the coffee we produce has the quality to be recognized in other countries around the world. Every achievement we have reached has meant better opportunities for my family, better conditions for our workers, and growth for our farm. My greatest satisfaction is knowing that every cup carries the authentic flavor of our mountains and transmits a real story of perseverance and passion. Because for me, every sip of coffee is a pause for the heart.
