Description
#6 — La Fila
Elizabeth Navarro Picado | Mill: Coopelibertad R.L.
What is now an exceptional Geisha micro-lot was, not long ago, family pastureland used for cattle. The transformation began around 2015, when Elizabeth Navarro and her family made the decision to plant coffee on land that had been in the family for generations, at 1,800 meters above sea level in the Los Santos region. The decision to focus on quality from the start — including the choice of the Geisha variety, sourced through a connection to Starbucks' plant program — set the tone for everything that followed.
The collaboration with Coopelibertad proved to be pivotal. It was the cooperative that identified the exceptional potential of this lot, supported the family through careful fermentation and African bed drying, and ultimately encouraged them to enter Cup of Excellence. For Elizabeth and her family, this recognition is more than a competitive result — it is the reward for years of patient investment, selective harvesting, and trust in a project built step by step. The story behind this coffee is one of transformation: from pasture to podium.
