Description

This farm was inherited from my grandfather Leoncio, and in his honor, I named it after him. It is located in Lourdes de Naranjo and has been in our family for over 80 years, passed down from generation to generation.
My family is wonderful: we are five—my wife, our three daughters, and myself. We are all deeply involved in this activity because we depend on it. It allows us to cover all essential expenses, such as food, education, and more.
The varieties grown at Finca Leoncio are Villa Sarchí, Kenya SL28, and San Roque. The coffee is picked by native Panamanians, who specialize in harvesting 100% ripe cherries.
This year, we experimented with a natural process coffee; I don’t usually do this because I personally prefer washed coffees. However, I decided to try the San Roque variety with this method, as I’ve seen the increasing popularity of well-executed natural process coffees among buyers.
CAFETALERA HERBAZÚ was founded in 2000–2001, becoming a pioneer in coffee processing in Costa Rica. It is made up of four brothers who process both their own coffee and that of four other brothers.
Our greatest strength is that we process coffee from our own land, allowing us to control every step—from cultivation to processing. This is how we ensure 100% quality coffee.
