Description

If you're searching for a truly unique Mexican Gesha that carries both history and innovation in every cup, you need to know about Finca La Palma. Led by Rubiel López, this is more than a coffee farm — it’s a multi-generational story of passion, recovery, and craft.

Nestled in Tlacotepec de Mejía, Veracruz at 950 masl, Finca La Palma spans just two hectares but is home to over 2,000 Gesha trees — a balanced mix of direct-root and grafted plants using our own Romex Clon 4. This farm was born from legacy, but it’s powered by forward thinking.

Rubiel’s journey began with the recovery of a lost varietal — the Gesha first introduced to Mexico in the 1980s. Through years of research and dedication, he rescued the lineage and, in 2015, certified it as GeshaT-2722, now cultivated with precision and care.

At Finca La Palma, we combine deep-rooted knowledge with smart farming: precision fertilization with Yara compounds, organic matter from local sources, and shade regulation using drone imagery — all to optimize plant health and cherry development. Shade from over 200 guanábana trees, along with native species like oak, jonote, mulato, and banana, is carefully managed through agroforestry practices. This approach not only supports slow, even ripening but also nurtures biodiversity and long-term soil health.

Our latest offering is a natural-process Gesha with an experimental 10-day controlled fermentation, dried on raised beds under carefully managed conditions. Every step, from processing to storage in Ecotac-lined jute sacks, is guided by data and intention to preserve the coffee’s clarity, florals, and complexity.

Still, this is very much a family endeavor. Rubiel works hand in hand with the Murillo family and, now, with a new baby in the family, the future feels more meaningful than ever. This is about legacy, but it’s also about building something sustainable — a farm where tradition and technology grow side by side.

If you're looking to offer your customers a Mexican Gesha that’s as thoughtful as it is exceptional, we’d love to connect.
