Description
Manuel Vallecillo began his coffee journey with guidance from his in-laws, who have been producers for two generations. They taught him the intricacies of coffee and co-managed the farm, especially his brother-in-law, Jaime Muñoz. They started producing coffee in 1998 and shifted to specialty coffee in 2010 when they acquired "Los Primos" farm, named in honor of their close relationship as it means in English is “The Cousins”.
Early on, "Los Primos" faced challenges like remote location and poor road access, crucial for processing. They creatively solved these issues in their first three years with mule transport and moving cherries to the nearest town.
Today, they prioritize environmental stewardship with certifications for green practices while ensuring the farm's health with proper nutrition, pesticide management, and community support by providing seasonal jobs, especially for women during berry picking. Their main varieties are Pacas and Catuai, with ongoing experiments in Geisha and Parainema, partnering with San Vicente Exports.
