Description
Finca Regina is a family-led coffee project rooted in the highlands of Ixhuatlán del Café, Veracruz, at an elevation of 1,580 meters above sea level. Established in 2018 by Doris Escamilla Romero and her husband, the farm was named after their daughter, Regina, symbolizing hope for future generations to embrace coffee cultivation with a focus on quality and sustainability.
The farm cultivates Geisha and Obata varieties under semi-organic shade-grown conditions. Emphasizing meticulous care, the coffee cherries are selectively handpicked at peak ripeness. Post-harvest, the beans undergo a controlled fermentation process and are then slowly dried, ensuring the preservation of their unique flavor profiles.
It is part of the Catuaí Amarillo collective — a network of producers committed to environmental stewardship and cultural identity. Thanks to its commitment to native tree conservation and agroforestry, Finca Regina proudly holds the Natural Shade-Grown Coffee certification, awarded by Mexico’s Secretariat of the Environment (SEMARNAT), recognizing the farm as a representative of the country's biocultural heritage.
Beyond the farm, Doris extends her passion for coffee through Café 88, a specialty coffee shop located in Coscomatepec, Veracruz. Here, she showcases the fruits of her labor, offering patrons a direct taste of Finca Regina's dedication to excellence.
Finca Regina stands as a testament to the commitment of women in coffee production, blending tradition with innovation to produce high-quality beans that resonate with discerning coffee enthusiasts worldwide.
