Luis Alberto Balladárez Moncada, owner of Empresas de Las Segovias, started in the world of coffee in 1990 working with his father, being the fourth generation of a coffee producing family.

With the desire and vision to develop and grow in the specialty coffee market, Luis Alberto founded his own company and that is how Beneficio Las Segovias was born in 2004.

Empresa de Las Segovias is constituted by a dry mill and coffee farms being “La Bendición” the first farm to be acquired in 2008 and “Un Regalo De Dios” and “La Esperanza” in 2010. A year later “Lo Prometido” farm was acquired.

With the passing of time we have been incorporating techniques and technologies that allow us to have a high quality coffee that represents the area of the department of Nueva Segovia, work that has been achieved by the glory of God and the blessings that He has placed in the path of Luis Alberto and his family.

A gift from GOD

 

Finca “Un Regalo de Dios” is located 32 kilometers from the city of Ocotal, in the community of Quisulí Arriba in the municipality of Mozonte, department of Nueva Segovia.

Finca Un Regalo de Dios is a refuge of natural beauty, where fresh air and vegetation merge to create an ideal environment for the cultivation of coffee, surrounded by trees, crystalline rivers and an impressive biodiversity, this farm is a testimony of the harmony between nature and sustainable agriculture.

Finca Un Regalo de Dios is characterized for being located at an altitude of 1350 to 1700 meters above sea level, with an extension of 143.35 hectares of which 68.78 hectares are planted with coffee and 74.56 hectares are of pine forest on the south side and broadleaf forest on the east and north side.

The predominant climate is semi-warm and humid tropical, with an annual rainfall of 1,000 to 1,200 millimeters, reaching 1,300 mm in the years with the highest rainfall. The temperature is approximately 18 to 26 degrees Celsius and the soil texture is sandy loam with abundant humus.

Under the relationships established with the clients of the company, bonds of friendship have been created, which have led to the commitment with the quality of the coffees cultivated, for which over time we have been developing a process of control and traceability in order to have a total transparency of our product, assuring during the whole process the maintenance of the quality that characterizes our coffees, their sweetness, cleanliness, flavors and aromas.

In Finca Un Regalo de Dios the family work is the heart of each cup of coffee produced, where the women are a fundamental part in the production of the coffee, and from the harvesting of the cherries in the farm these laborious hands manually select them based on their degree of maturity and they are deposited in palm baskets that they carry on their waists.

And it doesn't start here, a month beforehand they begin preparations to ensure that everything is just right. This involves checking and adjusting machinery, buying baskets for harvesting, arranging camps for farm personnel, among other things.

It is a hard work that is done together with our collaborating personnel from the cutting process to the moment of tasting a cup of coffee and it is our motivation to be able to produce high quality coffee offering our product to our clients, trying to perfect our processes each time.

Finca Un Regalo de Dios reflects the commitment with the care of the land, offering its visitors a unique experience in a natural environment.
