10 - El Povenir - Nicaragua 2025

“El Porvenir” is a farm with more than 60 years of history in the hands of the Monzónfamily. The grandfather inherited this land to his children and these to their descendants. Pedro Monzón was born in this farm and inherited 21 hectares which he called “El Porvenir”. He worked them and, with time, in the 1990's, he managed to buy another 30 hectares with which he was able to stabilize his production and his economy in order to live from coffee cultivation.

Pedro Monzon had five children, four girls and one boy, who have continued his legacy of coffee production. The name Porvenir was inspired by what the farm has meant for the family, a future with better opportunities and a better quality of life.

In El Porvenir farm the preservation of nature has been primordial, taking care of the water sources, the forests and the fauna, a system has been installed for the production of clean energy with which the coffee mill is operated and for use in other tasks of the farm.

For Don Pedro Monzon, producing coffee is his entire history; it is “our life and our future, in which we place all our hopes”.

Don Pedro mentions what the competition in the cup of excellence has meant to him, finding the opportunity to recognize the effort that we producers make to keep the name of Nicaraguan coffee high.
