Description
Farm Los Altiplanos de Datanlí is owned by Mr. Ricardo Cuadra Fajardo. Mr. Ricardo was born into a coffee growing family in Matagalpa 57 years ago. Finca Los Altiplanos is located in the district of La Salvadora municipality of Jinotega and within the natural reserve of Datanlí El Diablo, and has an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level. Los Altiplanos is a place where the colors and beauty are intense and deep as the coffee that is produced there. Hidden between fresh mountains and full of life, being there one finds a sense of beauty and harmony with nature that invades one's being.
Don Ricardo comments “My family has been linked to coffee for more than 100 years, and I feel that tradition and destiny have kept me in this beautiful vocation of coffee growing”. I have managed the family farm for several years, but in 2006 I had the opportunity to acquire my own farm which I named “Los Altiplanos de Datanli”. From the first moment I saw these lands, I found a climate, a landscape and an unparalleled nature.
In Los Altiplanos farm, where 78 hectares of coffee are produced, they have specialized in the cultivation of high quality varieties such as: Pacamara, Java, Paraneima, Marseillaise, Catuai and Catimor.
“I knew that I would cultivate these lands with special varieties of coffee, since the coffee produced there would transmit in the flavors of its beans that sensation that invaded me from the first moment I discovered this place”.
In Altiplanos quality is of paramount importance; production, harvesting and processing protocols are implemented that result in coffees with cups of excellence. Throughout the year the coffee is cultivated so that from November to March the best production can be obtained.
